Dear Colleagues,
The NMR Symposium of the 48th Rocky Mountain Conference on Analytical Chemistry will be held July 23 - 27, 2006. The conference site is the Beaver Run Resort & Conference Center in Breckenridge, Colorado.
The NMR Symposium will focus on the recent development of solid-state NMR techniques and applications. The symposium consists of formal oral and poster sessions and a Vendor's Carnival. Oral sessions include: Biological Solid-State NMR, New Methods, Complex Organic Materials, Interfaces and NanoMaterials, Joint NMR / EPR, Inorganic Materials, and Vaughan Memorial Symposium. Two poster sessions will provide a more relaxed environment for the dissemination of the latest results. The Vendor's Carnival will provide an opportunity for representatives from the NMR vendors to discuss NMR problems as well as promote their latest technological advancements and products.
We are pleased to announce that this year's Vaughan Lecturer is Professor Lucio Frydman from the Weizmann Institute of Science. To date, invited speakers include: Jean Paul Amoureux (University of Lille), Bob Griffin (Massachusetts Institute of Technology), Walter Köckenberger (University of Nottingham), Brad Chmelka (University of California, Santa Barbara), Colin Fyfe (University of British Columbia), Marek Pruski (Ames Laboratory, Iowa State University), Lin-Shu Du (Air Products and Chemicals), Naresh Dalal (Florida State University, National High Magnetic Field Laboratory), Gary Gerfen (Albert Einstein College of Medicine), Paul Ellis (Pacific Northwest National Laboratory), Tim Cross (Florida State University, National High Magnetic Field Laboratory), Mark E. Smith (University of Warwick), H.ans Jakobsen (University of Aarhus), Ago Samoson (National Institute of Chemical Physics and Biophysics, Tallinn, Estonia), Rod Wasylishen (University of Alberta), Beat Meier (ETH), Yoshitaka Ishii (University of Illinois at Chicago), Jacob Schaefer (Washington University), Haskell Beckhamm (Georgia Institute of Technology), and Detlef Reichert (University of Halle). In addition to invited speakers, oral presentations will be selected by the Organizing Committee from among the submitted abstracts which indicated preference for oral presentation.
The deadline for submitting abstracts is May 1, 2006 (June 15, 2006 for posters). For details of abstract submission see the Call-for-Papers link on the website. Please indicate if you would like to be considered for a talk when you submit your abstract. Students and postdoctoral associates may also request that their poster presentation be considered for the Laura Marinelli Prize, sponsored by Elsevier Scientific Press. The prize is given to the outstanding poster presentation. The NMR Symposium offers limited travel support to students and postdoctoral associates giving a presentation at the meeting. The Organizing Committee is pleased to once again offer the Jack E. Crow Travel Grant, sponsored by the National High Magnetic Field Laboratory. The travel grant will be awarded to a student or postdoctoral associate based on the scientific qualities of their abstract and supporting material. Please follow the instructions in the Travel Stipend link if you would like to apply for travel assistance.
The quality and success of this meeting depends on your contributions. I look forward to seeing you in Breckenridge.
